Stray Neutering ~ Spaying Programmes

All our resident rescued cats and dogs are spayed/neutered either when they are old enough or well enough to undergo the operation.

We also give our time to help with stray spaying/neutering programmes that take place in our area from time to time.

Below are photos of the most recent spay/neuter programme which took place in Jan 2011 and was a huge success. A total of 41 stray cats were caught, spayed/neutered over two days.
Volunteer UK vet, Gill and vet nurse, Ellie worked so hard, they both did a wonderful job, we can't thank them enough.
The spay/neuter operations take place in whatever suitable place that is offered. On this occasion it was in a friends vacant house...

As well as being neutered/spayed the cats were given antibiotic injections and worming tablets. They also had their eyes treated with antibiotic eye drops.
They were released after being checked over by the vet the following day. All recovered well. We keep an eye on as many as we possibly can over the following days but these cats are feral and some will and do stay out of sight.

The volunteer vets, nurses/assistants give their time for free and work very hard.
A small group of us volunteer to catch and supervise the animals, assist the vets and help with whatever needs doing on the day. We're often out early in the morning and late at night trying to catch as many strays as possible for operations the following day.

1-2 February 2012

We managed to catch 15 stray/feral cats - 57 were caught, neutered and released in all.
